Beginners Training Sessions
Ealing Eagles organise Beginners Training Courses several times each year. These courses are aimed at new runners or those returning to running after a long break.
The April/May 2013 session is now fully subscribed. Please register on the waiting list to receive priority details when the next course when dates are confirmed.
We will meet on Ealing Green at the junction of Mattock Lane and Bond Street.
The sessions are completely free of charge and with no obligation to join after the sessions.
What is involved?
We will start with a warm up followed by some gentle runs for 2-3 minutes, walking for 2 mins. This will be repeated for 20-30 minutes before a cool down/stretch.
Over the duration of the course, we will gradually build this up to running more and walking less with the aim of joining the main running group at the end.
What is the aim?
The aim is to slowly build up to a 5km run/jog after 6 weeks (without walking this is) and either join the Ealing Eagles on the Gunnersbury 5km Parkrun or the Ealing Eagles 3 miles run on Wednesdays or Mondays.
What do I need to bring?
Just yourselves, your sense of humour and perhaps a drink for during/afterwards. We do not have any changing or storage facilities so please do not bring any bags along.
Should I register?
Yes. We need to take some basic information from everyone intending to come along.
Are places limited?
Yes – in order to maintain the quality of the sessions we do have a limit on places for the beginners sessions. Please register early!
Who are the sessions designed for?
Adults who would like to build up to eventually running non-stop for 5km (or more).
Are coaches/leaders qualified?
There will be a minimum of 1 qualified coach or leader at every session.
If you have any questions on the beginners training sessions, please contact us.
Why the Sofa?
Our beginners programme will help you with motivation to start and maintain a healthy lifestyle. There will still be time for the sofa and it will feel so much better after a good running session.
