Committee Roles & Responsibilities

The club is managed by volunteers who give their time to allow the club to prosper.  It is expected that each role would take around 1-2 hours per week in addition to attending committee meetings once every 4-6 weeks.

Committee Nomination Form (2012/13)

Chairman

  • Chair the regular committee meetings
  • Represent the club to external bodies
  • Lead the committee in the best interests of the club and its members

Secretary

  • Deal with new membership applications and registrations
  • Take minutes at the committee meetings (or ensure another committee member is available to cover)
  • First point of contact with England Athletics and UK Athletics
  • Attend West London Athletics meetings and liase with WLAN for the benefit of the club.

Treasurer

  • Preparation of financial statements for review at each Committee meeting
  • Regular reconciliation of bank and paypal accounts
  • Ad hoc analysis of specific projects (e.g. Gunnersbury 10km forecasting)
  • Assistance in the preparation of sponsorship and funding proposals to 3rd parties

Race/Competition

  • Encourage competitive participaton amongst club members
  • Distribution of results
  • Leading race projects (e.g. Gunnersbury 10km)
  • Represent club to other race/league organisers

Marketing/PR

  • Promote the club in local & regional press
  • Pursue sponsorship opportunities
  • Produce marketing & advertising materials
  • Ensure growth in the club by increasing active participation
  • Raise the profile of the club in the local community
  • Be the main point of contact for all marketing enquiries

Coaching

  • Operation of specific training programs (beginners program, ealing half program)
  • Guide other coaches to lead these programs
  • Develop coaches and running leaders
  • Contact point for anything relating coaching

Social

  • Plan and organise several club social events every year
  • Ensure the continued smooth running of the monthly social
  • Represent the club when dealing with venues
  • Promote club social activities on website, social media and during training sessions

In addition to their specific responsibilities, all committee members are jointly responsible for

  • Answering member questions in person and via the club email account
  • Contributing to the club website and social media channels
