Birthday Party, Christmas Events, parkrun & Club Officers

It's been a little while since the last newsletter, so there's plenty to tell you about.

Ealing Eagles 2nd Birthday - Quiz Night, Saturday 15th October (Star & Anchor)

It's been 2 years since Liz, Alan and a small (but select) group of founders first gathered on Ealing Green to form Ealing Eagles.  A lot has taken place in the club's history since then, but to celebrate 2 amazing years, Judith has organised a Quiz Night at the Star & Anchor.  The quiz will be standard General Knowledge with a special athletics round (so get reading).

If you're a member of our Facebook Group, you should have had an invite to the Facebook Event.  Please RSVP via Facebook or email.  Everyone is welcome (runners & guests) but it's important that we get a good idea of numbers in the next few days.

Arrive from 7:30pm for an 8:00pm quiz start (only £1 per quizzer).  We'll be randomly selecting teams (but don't worry we won't split any members from their guests), so it will be a great opportunity to meet some new runners.

Christmas Party & 2011 Awards Night - Saturday 10th December 2011

It might seem a little early to be advertising a Christmas Party, but we're keen to share what we've been planning.  The Christmas Party will take place at Ealing Lawn Tennis Club (perhaps the next best sports club in Ealing) and full details are available on the website.

The 2011 Club Awards will be presented during the course of the night.

Advance tickets cost £5 for members and guests and we are requesting that members buy their tickets as soon as possible to ensure their place.  The modest £5 cost covers the exclusive hire of the clubhouse, bar, disco and also some nibbles.

Santa Run - Saturday 10th December 2011

As a warm-up to the Christmas Party (see above), we'll be kicking off the day in style with a social 10km Santa Run taking in the new Gunnersbury parkrun (see below) and beyond.

Again, full details are on the website as well as the opportunity to pre-order your Santa Suit.

Marketing/PR Committee Vacancy

Helen has regrettably decided to leave the committee and on behalf of the members we'd like to thank her for her contribution.

If you are interested in filling the Marketing/PR vacancy, have a read of the responsibilities and contact us.

Tail Running, News & Website Volunteers

To support the club's growth we're asking for assistance in the following areas.  These roles are not part of the main committee, but a great way to get involved in the club. If you are interested in any of these, please contact us.

Tail Running Co-ordinator

Tail Running is an important part of the club and this new role has been created to co-ordinate the tail running schedule to ensure we have tail runners for each week.

News Contributors

We're looking for one or more people to write news articles for the website, twitter & facebook group, relating to club, local or running related matters.  No technical knowledge is required.

Website Editor/Developer

The website is a key part of the club, handling membership/kit payments, communication & promotion to new members.  The website editor/developer will assist in developing new features & maintaining the website.  A knowledge of HTML, CSS, PHP (Drupal CMS) would be required.

Gunnersbury parkrun

Finally, as many of you will know, parkrun will be coming to Gunnersbury Park, starting on Saturday 29th October 2011.  Arlene & Kelvin have been instrumental in setting up this event with the parkrun team for the running pleasure of everyone in the Ealing area.

Organising a parkrun relies on a number of volunteers and Arlene & Kelvin will be very pleased to hear from anyone who can spare some time to volunteer at the Gunnersbury parkrun.
