Club Photo, Social & Special Announcement: Wednesday 7th September 2011
Dear Eagles
We've got quite a busy week ahead, hopefully this newsletter will summarise what's going on.
Club Photo, Social & Special Announcement - Wednesday 7th September
There are 3 reasons why you should make a special effort to join us on Wednesday this week:
Club Photo
Jonas (whose photography skills were last in action at the Gunnersbuy Park 10k) will be coming along on Wednesday evening at 7:30 to take our latest club photo. If you've got an Ealing Eagles vest, please do wear this for the photo. If you don't have a vest but would like one, I'll be bringing the stock to the New Inn.
Social Event, New Inn
It's the first Wednesday of the month, so that means it's time to visit the New Inn for more of their legendary hospitality. As usual, bags & coats can be deposited before the run and a 5% discount is offered on food & drink through the evening. Following last month's bumper attendance, they've now secured a second chef, so it will be a great opportunity to try some food too.
Special Announcement
The committee will be making a special announcement on Wednesday evening, so if you want to hear what this is first, you'll need to be on Ealing Green at 7:30.
I'm sure that the above will stimulate enough interest for us to break our 50 barrier too.
Maidenhead Half Marathon
Congratulations to those who completed the inaugural Maidenhead Half Marathon on Sunday 4th September in mixed weather conditions. Have a read of the race report and check out the team photo.
parkrun (Richmond & Wormwood Scrubs)
It's been around 6 months since Arlene suggested that we register Ealing Eagles as an official parkrun club. In that time, we've collected a few experienced parkrunners, but more importantly introduced a large number of people to the parkrun concept. Those people have in turn introduced their friends and we recently marked our 50th participant in the Richmond parkrun. Congratulations to all 52 of you, I look forward to celebrating our 100th parkrunner at some point in the future.
A special mention must also go to Kelvin & Arlene, who volunteered on Saturday for Wormwood Scrubs & Richmond parkrun respectively. The parkrun
10/20 mile training run, Sunday 11th September 2011
In addition to the regular 10 mile run on Sunday 11th September, Nanda will be leading a group of marathon trainees on a 20 mile route to Hampton Court and back. As usual, meet on Ealing Green at 9:00am.
Interval Training, every Thursday evening
Thursday 8th September will be the last Interval training session of the summer in Lammas park. Rest assured, Richard and the committee will be putting together a great Autumn/Winter schedule, continuing on Thursdays from 15th September.
This is likely to involve some track sessions, something I know that many of us are very keen to try, Thanks again to Richard who kindly gives his time to lead the interval training sessions.
