England Athletics Affiliation, Christmas Party, Santa Run & Gunnersbury park run
Hi all
Welcome to the newsletter.
We now have over 300 subscribers to this newsletter, quite a community of Eagles and just one measure of how the club has grown in the last two years.
England Athletics Affiliation
All the paperwork has been completed and the club is now officially affiliated to England Athletics, bringing a whole host of benefits to the club and its members.
To take full advantage of the benefits, our members need to be registered individually with England Athletics. We'll be doing this in a bulk process next Sunday 6th November (needs to be quick to meet the deadline for Virgin Londom Marathon places).
Although not mandatory, we're hoping that most of our members will choose to be registered this year. If you do, it only requires a payment of £5 to England Athletics (+ £0.40 processing fees). Please also take this opportunity to check your details on the website like Date of Birth & Address are correct.
REGISTER ME for England Athletics membership
From 1st April 2012, we will be aligning our membership year with that of EA and combining the £5 EA membership price with the Ealing Eagles membership price.
Christmas Party - Saturday 10th December 2011
Tickets are selling quickly for what promises to the the best social event of the festive season. If you've not bought your ticket yet, then don't delay too long as capcacity at the venue is limited. Remember that this event is for members and their friends, partners, family who have tolerated smelly trainers and early weekend alarm calls through the year.

Santa Run - Saturday 10th December 2011
The 1st Ealing Eagles Santa Run is proving popular, with advance sales of Santa Suits really booming. The run is open to members and guests of members to enjoy and will follow on from the Gunnersbury parkrun with a 5km gentle run around Ealing to finish at The New Inn.

Social Night - Wednesday 3rd November 2011
Our regular monthly social is this Wednesday 3rd November, hosted by the ever-friendly team at the New Inn. As normal, if you'd like to drop bags & coats at the pub before the training run, please feel free to do so.
During this event, we'll also have the opportunity to vote in Melissa as our new Marketing/PR officer. Melissa has kindly volunteered her time for this important committee role.
Trophy/Award Sponsorship
The club plans to be investing in a number of trophies to be presented to award winners at the Christmas Party, We'd really like to have local businesses sponsor these trophies & awards, so if you know of any business that would be interested, please do get in touch.
In sponsoring an award/trophy the club would offer naming rights on the award/trophy among other benefits.
Gunnersbury parkrun
Finally, if you hadn't already heard, parkrun finally came to Ealing last week with the 1st Gunnersbury parkrun event (5km) taking place on Saturday 29th October. This is sure to be a popular event amongst the Ealing Eagles and the wider Ealing community as the amazing turnout of 163 runners for the first event showed. Have a read of the Race Report for all the details.
Arlene, Kelvin & Yan were all key in setting up the event series and are keen for more volunteers to help them in future weeks. If you would like to help out please email GunnersburyHelpers@parkrun.com. It’s a great way to meet people and give something back to the parkrun community.
The Gunnersbury parkrun will take place every Saturday at 9am, it's a free event and you just need to register and print a barcode from the parkrun website in advance of your first run.
