Gunnersbury 10k
Thanks to everyone that turned up for the recent Gunnersbury 10k. The Committee took the decision to partner with the race organiser in order to gain some experience of running an event, to promote the Eagles and to see as many of the regulars running as possible. The feedback received has been very positive – we’ll continue to review how the day went and to see where improvements can be made should we ever decide to run our own events in the future.
Regular training runs
The Monday run continues to go from strength to strength with 20 in attendance this week, containing many new runners. Wednesdays are also continuing to grow with the target of 50 not far off. The route will continue as normal throughout the summer (3miles or 5 miles) with a longer 10mile run for the more adventurous additionally included once a month (last Wednesday of the month). Thursday interval training continues throughout the summer (730pm outside Cafe Rouge) and the Sunday run continues at the same meting point at 9am for a 10mile run to Richmond Lock, back via Syon Lane & Northfields.
If you are a regular runner with the club, please read about how to give something back and volunteer to be a Tail Runner for one week.
Racing
The current events which many Eagles are planning to take part in can be seen here. The next ‘Eagles do parkrun’ will be on 6th August. It’s likely this will be the Bushy parkrun (current favourite on our facebook group) so pencil in a meet at the usual spot outside Cafe Rouge at 745am on Saturday 6th August. We had a great turnout for the last run and hope to at least match that again this time. There has been some talk of organising an Ealing parkrun – if anyone is keen to explore this possibility please contact Arlene who is co-ordinating ideas and potential organisers/volunteers and is keen to see if the demand for a local weekly 5k exits.
In addition many runners are preparing for Autumn Half Marathon or Marathons. Good luck to all runners taking part in any events in the coming months – we would love to hear from you to let us know what you are doing and when.
Social
The Wednesday once a month social was a great success at the New Inn last week. The majority of runners seemed to come along after the run and it was great to meet so many of you. The next one is planned for Wednesday 3rd August. Judging by the facebook photos the Saturday pub crawl was also extremely popular. The stretching photo after a ‘few’ beers was a nice touch – although the reduced attendance at the Sunday morning run was duly noted !
Vests
Vests are available from the website priced at £17.50. These have been extremely popular in recent weeks and we envisage buying the next batch fairly shortly. It’s great to see some of you wearing these on the various group runs. Wearing a vest is also a requirement to post a time on the Hall of Fame (Club Results)
