Races, Socials, Club Vests and Ealing parkrun

Regular Training Sessions

The regular training runs are continuing to be very popular. We are averaging around 15 on a Monday, Thursday and Sunday and around 45 on a Wednesday (that target of 50 can’t be far away!).

Monday, 7:30pm -  3 or 5 mile options.

Wednesday, 7:30pm –  3 or 5 mile options with an added 10 mile option for the more adventurous on Wed 27th July (this week).

Thursday, 7:30pm - Interval Training

Sunday, 9am - Standard run of 10 miles with regular options to extend to 13 miles or more for those in training for marathons.

Many Eagles are now in training for Autumn half marathons or marathons - we hope the training is going well and would appreciate any feedback as to how we can help as the date approaches.

Membership & Joining

If you haven't already joined on the website and paid your £5 annual membership fee, then there has never been a better time.

The club is operated on a not-for-profit basis and is affiliated to the Association of Running Clubs which provides Public Liability Insurance for our training sessions.

Ealing Eagles have put together a schedule of races that we hope our members will participate in.  We'll have one or two races each month where we really try to get a good turnout of eagles.

'Eagles do parkrun'

We have decided to pick the ‘original’ Bushy Park parkrun for our next 5k.  We had over 20 runners last time at Richmond and it would be great to beat that on Saturday 6th August.  We will be meeting at 7:45am on the green outside Cafe Rouge – there should be a few people driving.  If you have spare places in your car please let us know.  If you have not already done so, make sure that you register for free on parkrun.com (register as an Ealing Eagles Running Club runner) and print off your barcode before Friday 5th August.

Social

The next social is the regular first Wednesday of the month – on Wed 3rd August.  This will be after the normal run and will be at the New Inn.  They have agreed to store our bags before the run – just mention you are part of the running club.  It’s a 5 minute run or a gentle 10 minute walk from the New Inn to the normal starting point so best to ensure you drop your bag off there by 7:20.  We look forward to seeing many of you there – last month the majority of people came along and it’s a great opportunity to say hello to everyone (over a pint or 2 !).  Eagles can also claim a 5% discount off food & drink during Eagles social events.

After the parkrun on Sat 6th August we will be having an afternoon BBQ at the New Inn from 2pm.  All are welcome – including friends and family – and it should be a great way to discuss everyone’s PB at Bushy Park from earlier in the day.  You may also like to wish Arlene a Happy Birthday as well.

Vests

Due to overwhelming demand new vests (mens and ladies) have now been ordered.  These can be ordered from the website for £17.50, which is what it costs us to buy them .  These really help to advertise the club and it’s great to see so many people wearing them on the regular runs.  Best to order now before stocks run low prior to our Bushy parkrun.  We will bring some spare vests along to the social night on Wed 3rd.

Ealing parkrun

A few Eagles have been discussing the possibility of helping to setup and volunteer for a parkrun in Ealing.  We are in discussions with the parkrun team and the council to see whether this is a possibility.  It will only be successful if enough people are willing to volunteer now and again to help with setup/timing/marshalling etc.  If you would be willing to do so please let Arlene know.  This will not be an Eagles event, but having a local 5k run every Saturday morning can only help the club and it would be great if we had some level of involvement in setting it up.

Morning Runs

A few members have asked about morning runs, leaving Ealing around 6:30am.  If you are interested in leading a morning run (or sharing this responsibility) please contact us.
