Tips for running and training with Ealing Eagles

Ealing Eagles Running Club is for runners of all standards and have welcomed many beginners since the club launched in October 2009.

The club offers a safe and sociable atmosphere which is ideal for those starting out in the world of running.  If you've not been doing regular exercise, then you should check with your GP before starting any exercise routine.

If it's your first time running in a group or club, or just want a refresher, here are some tips and hints:

  • The club has no clubhouse or changing facilities, so turn up in your kit ready to run
  • Wear a Hi-Vis jacket or top in winter months (even though most drivers are very courteous towards runners when they see a group)
  • Try to arrive 5-minutes before the start time to meet the other runners, familiarise yourself with the route and have a warm-up
  • Many of our runners are local and jog down arriving just before 7:30 so don't be surprised if nobody is there by 7:20
  • Run at a comfortable pace (this is usually judged as a pace at which you can hold a conversation with a fellow runner)
  • Save enough energy for a gentle jog or walk home
  • Have a cool-down and stretch afterwards
