Ultramarathon Races
For few, the challenge of training for and running a marathon is just not enough and the world of ultra running opens its door. Officially an ultra marathon is any distance greater than the 26.2 miles of a marathon, but distances of 50km, 50 miles and 100km are common. Often the ultra runs are self guided and may also require runners to carry their own body weight in jelly babies.
Have a read of the excellent Ultramarathon Training page written by David and also the leading ultramarathon website www.ultramarathonrunning.com
Those amongst the Ealing Eagles who complete an ultra are listed below:
September 2011
David Kelly completed the London to Brighton ultra marathon (56 miles or 90km if you prefer to run in metric) in a time of 12hr 26min.
Whilst the Ealing Eagles don't formally train for ultra marathons, our regular training runs can easily be adopted to form part of your ultra training routine (or regime).
