Some words from Dineke and Trevor on their running adventures in Bristol:

Dineke Austin and her partner Trevor Pask, travelled to Bristol to compete in the Bristol 10k on Sunday the 15th. As a curtain raiser, on the Saturday morning they attended a delightful parkrun event at Pomphrey Hill – about seven miles outside the city. The event was well worth the taxi fare and was three enjoyable laps of gravel, tarmac and a punishing hill which the locals call ‘Up Pomphrey’. Each lap takes runners past a sports centre run by the local parish council who unlike another former Bristol Park run, are not proposing to charge for path wear and tear. Instead, they open the kitchen and sell fresh coffee, cake and bacon sandwiches. Each lap goes by the kitchen! The locala also cheered ‘Come on London’ on each lap.
The Bristol 10k was impeccably organised by the Great Run company and was a flat and completely closed road course. Dineke gained a PB of 51.32 – smashing her previous PB by 2.23. Trevor also did a PB of 53.37 – beating his previous best set in the cold at Kingston in February by 37 seconds. The atmosphere was incredible: only the Ealing half has the steel band to rival; this also had rock choir, local radio station - guess which Freddie Mercury - and cheering crowds!
At last Dineke feels she can wear Eagles shirt without bringing dishonour to the club: not bad having taken up running only at 63!

Well done Dineke!
