Race Programme
Eagles compete in everything from track sprints to ultra-marathons. Below are the key events, leagues, and races the club participates in throughout the year.
Club Championship
An annual internal competition featuring specific target races ranging from 1 mile to half marathon.
Who it’s for: All members of every ability level (you do not need to run every distance to compete). The competition is sub-divided according to gender and age group.
Why join: It is a fantastic way to track your year-on-year improvement, challenge club records, and enjoy some friendly competition.
Summer League
A series of events held during the warmer months, competing against 8 other London running clubs. It is a great community event and features:
Main Race: A 5-mile or 10km run catering to all standards.
Junior Tenderfoot Race: A shorter 1.5km run for junior Eagles. The children of Eagle parents who are not themselves junior club members are also able to compete.
Relays: Optional, age-graded 300–400m relays for both adults and juniors.
Awards: Individual trophies are awarded at the end of the year based on your best three performances.
Cross Country
The club participates in three Cross Country leagues: the Met League, the Sunday League and the North West London League. These are held between October and February.
Who it’s for: Runners of all abilities (though Sunday League is considered a more gentle introduction to cross country running).
Sunday League is adults only, North West London League is juniors only, and Met League has both adult and junior races.
How it works: It’s all about team scoring—the higher you place ahead of rival club runners, the more points the Eagles get.
The club also enters runners into various local, regional and national championship races, which are also open to runners of all abilities.
Relays & Marathons
Relays: The club enters teams into prestigious relay events throughout the year, most notably the Welsh Castles Relay, the Green Belt Relay around London, the Round Norfolk Relay and the River Relay along the Thames.
London Marathon: As an England Athletics affiliated club, the Eagles receive two entries for the London Marathon each year, which are distributed to members via a club ballot based on volunteering points. Many other Eagles participate in the London marathon though places gained through Good For Age qualification, charity places and the general public ballot.
Additionally, Eagles are frequently found at marathons up and down the country and across the globe.
Local Feature Races
Ealing Half Marathon (EHM): While not officially organised by the club, Eagles members are heavily involved in the planning and execution of this Autumn race. The club hosts specific training sessions leading up to the event to help runners conquer the infamous Ealing "undulations."
West London 10k: a late spring 10k taking place in the leafy surroundings of Gunnersbury Park.
Ealing Eagles Track Mile: a club-organised one mile track race for adults and juniors taking place in early Summer.
Ealing Eagles Race Series: 5k and one mile road races taking place around Perivale Park throughout the Summer.
