How it all began
Well I never……………I won something!!!! Really???
It almost never happened. Deadline was approaching fast, and I had still not sent the form off. Finally, Sunday evening 1st Dec. with less than 2 hrs to go I managed to press the send button. Phew!
I was cutting it a bit fine I know and damaged the reputation of us Germans for usually being super organised. Maybe I have been living here to long. 35 years to be precise and this is the reason why I could not attend the party in person, as I was on a surprise mission to Deutschland.
Although I could not be there myself, I was well represented by fellow Eagle and stunt double Ewan Fryatt, who did a great job. Thank you so much matey. I am also eternally grateful to Kelvin Walker who pulled my name out of the hat. I think I will owe him a drink……….. indefinitely.
I was really moved by all the congratulation messages and a call in the middle of the night by no other than Kieran telling me I had won, just in case I missed it 😊 I am truly super exited to be experiencing such a great race from “the other side”. I have been a very active supporter (at least I like to think so) at Mile23 over the past 7 years and twice organised it myself and felt a bit of FOMO, hence me giving the club ballot a go. Never thought I would actually get a place. It’s truly amazing and still a bit unbelievable. As for a marathon plan, well I don’t have one yet, but one thing is for sure my plan ain’t gonna start until after Xmas.
Massive thanks to the fabulous Eagles Running club. You guys are all awesome and I am massively grateful for the opportunity to run VLM. Will do my best not to “let the club down “😊😊
